Bill truly changed my life. I moved to Montgomery when I was 16 and found it hard to fit in. I was very much an out of towner. When I met Billy Hodge that all changed. We became friends quickly and then spent pretty much most of our free time hanging out for the last year and a half of high school. Bill, Chad and I became almost inseparable. Whether it was music, talking cars, video games (Bill was terrible), parties, friends, the lake, the beach...Bill, Big Red, Chad and I were there. Days at the Hodgson lake house are some of the fondest of my time growing up. Some of the most anxious too. Bill would pick me up in Big Red in Meriwether Circle in Montgomery with the fuel light already glowing and proceed to drive to the lake. How we never seemed to run out of gas still to this day I have no idea. But that was Bill, he was chill and just believed it would be fine.
After high school Bill, Chad and I headed to Europe (my side of the pond) for a whistle stop tour. We obviously couldn't wait to start (in Amsterdam) and proceeded to make amazing memories around the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, and Germany. It couldn't have been a better time.
Bill took me in like a brother, shared his wonderful family with me whilst I was away from home and I will forever be grateful to him for that. I am so glad we got to be reunited after a long gap in both May 2024 and 2025 and that I got to share the news of my daughter with him. Bill, I love you and miss you. Ralph
