Funeral Service for Mr. William “Bill” Sanders DuBose, Sr., 82, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Dr. Josh Sammons will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park with veteran honors provided by the U.S. Air Force. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 4, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. William “Bill” Sanders DuBose, Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, in Alexander City, Alabama. Born on January 2, 1943, in Pineview, Georgia, Bill's life was a testament to service, family, and faith.
Bill proudly served his country in the US Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic, a role that honed his meticulous nature and love for tinkering. His skills were not just limited to aircraft, as he later retired from the US Postal Service, where he was equally esteemed for his dedication and work ethic. His commitment to community was further evidenced by his role as a founding member of God's House Church in Hackneyville, where he lived his Christian faith through action and fellowship.
Family was the cornerstone of Bill's life. He deeply loved his wife, Cathy DuBose, and their bond was a source of strength and joy to all who knew them. Together, their blended family includes, William DuBose, Jr., Laura A. Johnson, James F. DuBose, Vicki Lynn (Daniel) Wiseman, Jonathan W. Fuller and Joseph R. Fuller. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Christopher Johnson, Melanie Tucker, and Alison G. DuBose, as well as his adored great-grandchildren, Adaline Tucker, Aleah Johnson, and Christopher A. Johnson, Jr.
Bill's warm and engaging personality meant he never met a stranger, and his friends were as diverse and widespread as his interests. His love for Elvis' music often filled the home, and his extensive gun collection was a subject of admiration and many conversations. Bill's sense of humor and loving nature made him a beacon of light in his community.
He is also survived by his brother, Robert Gene Speas. Bill was preceded in death by his father, William Henry DuBose, his mother, Rosa Belle Speas, and his brother, James P. DeVaney. His family takes comfort in knowing that Bill has joined his parents and brother in eternal rest.
Bill's passion for traveling took him to many places, but it was the journey of life that he cherished most. Whether he was tinkering with cars, engaging in heartfelt conversations, or simply being present with those he loved, Bill's life was full of moments that reflected his friendly, funny, and loving nature.
As we celebrate Bill's life, we remember a man who was always willing to lend a helping hand and whose presence could light up a room. His laughter and love will resonate with us forever. Mr. William Sanders DuBose leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished and honored by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
