Nellie was a sweet friend for all the many years
I lived in Rockford. I kept in touch with her after I moved to Utah and we talked on the phone. I just arrived one day too late.
Nellie made the best chocolate pound cakes
with chocolate frosting. Every birthday she would make my children a cake. As they got older and smarter they wanted a double layer
pound cake, then that turned into a triple layer. We will always remember her kindness.
For many years I had the pleasure of doing her hair in my beauty shop. She was a delight and we had many a good laugh.
She took great pride in working at the drug store lunch counter. I believe she always made my sandwich extra special.
Miss Nellie, you lived a long life and were a friend to many. You left all of us with wonderful memories. Till I see you again on the other side……
