Mr. Dewey Brown's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. Dewey Brown, 79, of Daviston, Alabama, will be Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church. Elder Barry Cordes, Elder Daniel Dean, and Bro. Ted Price will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ephesus Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 25, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home. He will lie in state one hour prior to the service as well.
Mr. Brown, a cherished member of the community, passed away at the age of 79 in Alexander City, AL, on September 21, 2023. Born on February 22, 1944, in Tallapoosa County, he lived a vibrant and full life, touching the hearts of many with his spirited and friendly nature.
Dewey is survived by his beloved family members; his daughter Rhonda J. Simmons (Ricky) of Alexander City, grandchild Carrie Simmons (Chris Meadows), daughter-in-law Tara Brown, his sister Kathra "Bug" Mattox (Hulan) of Alexander City, and brother Redge Brown (Emma Jean) of Dadeville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Edgebert Brown and Mattie Lou Brown, his loving wife Judith Brown, his son Derwin Brown, his brothers Lowell "Dirt Dobber" Brown and Wilber Joe Brown and his sister-in-law, Patricia Brown.
Mr. Brown was a man of faith, serving as a deacon for many years at Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church. He loved gospel music and took great pleasure in attending gospel singings. His professional life included a stint at Russell Mills and later selling produce. Dewey also had a keen interest in auctions, which he frequented regularly.
A man with a warm heart, Dewey never met a stranger. His jovial and friendly demeanor made him a joy to be around. He was known for his funny tales and spirited conversations, which will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
The legacy of Mr. Dewey Brown will live on through the many lives he touched, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave. His memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and community.
