Othell and I were in the class of '65 at BRHS. I went into the Air Force in '66 and after basic training and tech school, I was sent to Japan. When I arrived at Tachikawa Air Base in Japan, I was in line for food along with hundreds of other soldiers, many of whom were headed to Vietnam. I noticed a tall, lanky fellow in line and about 10 people in front of me.......... It was Othell. We shared a few minutes together, and went to our respective destinations.
A little over a year later, I flew into McGuire Air Force Base on my way to an assignment in Germany. As I was walking through the terminal, once again I ran into Othell. We chatted briefly and I don't think I ever saw him again. Othell was one of the good guys for sure.
