Mr. JW "Jake" Carrol's Obituary
JW "Jake" Carrol, 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Harpersville, Alabama, on February 17th, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. Family will have a private graveside service on February 28, 2022.
Jake was born January 4th, 1931, and raised in Oklahoma, where he met and later married the love of his life, Velma, on August 5th, 1951. Shortly afterward, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving two years during the Korean War. After returning home, Jake's mentality of "if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right" drove him to a highly successful career with Honeywell for more than 35 years. In retirement, Jake served Alabama's Campers on Mission for more than 20 years. As a project leader, he led more than 30 projects in 19 states and led the Oneida Baptist Institute for 14 years in Oneida, Kentucky.
Jake will be remembered for his love of fishing, camping, traveling, playing card games or mexican train, and music. Although most of all, his ability to make people smile and love for his family.
Jake is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Velma Carrol, and three children, Ricky Carrol (Barbara), Sue Evans (Leonard) and Patti Scarver (Huey). Three grandchildren also survive him: Tawnya Gaston (George), Jason Sinkar (Siovhan) and Jamie Crawford, along with five great-grandchildren: Roxanna Sinkar, Jason Gaston, Aaron Gallegos, Matthew Gaston, and Cameron Gaston, whom he loved, adored, and supported in every way possible.
