Mrs. Velma, We are truly sorry to hear about Mr. Jake's passing. He was a gentle giant and a very devoted man of God. God had a special place for him as he entered the gates of our Heavenly Father. We met when Campers for Christ helped build New Beginning Baptist Church in the early 2000's. We will be forever thankful for your commitment to further God's Kingdom. You will be in our thoughts and prayers as you face the days ahead without your loved one.
I met Mr. Jake and Mrs. Velma at the 11:00 AM services at First Baptist Church in Alexander City. After casually greeting each other several times it seems we got there early enough to chat one Sunday. Jake found I worked for Johnson Controls and specialized in building automation systems. Since Mr. Jake had done the same with Honeywell for many years that thing in common became our bond. Over time I found him to be a kindhearted good man who loved Mrs. Velma and his Lord. As time passed and years began to affect his health I couldn’t help but notice how faithful they were to attend worship and never a complaint about how he felt. Instead always the same warm smile and greeting. I look forward to seeing Jake again in heaven. And if the Lord wants a great controls system there Jake and I might just put one in!

My uncle, Jake Carrol, was a great man and I am sad he no longer walks this earth. He was the son of John Carrol and brother of my mom, Charlene Dopson. Although we never spent a great deal of time together he always made me aware that he was present for me. He helped Velma watch me when I was a very young child. He was present and by my side when my mom passed in 1977. He and Velma came to my law school graduation ceremony in 1982. He called me on my birthday every year. He came to my side again in 2007 as my dad, Ray Dopson, was dying and he comforted me. He provided for Velma and my cousins and he lived life always thinking and doing for others. There is a very special place in heaven for him.

Fran & I met Jake Carrol in April of 2003 . We worked with Jake on many Projects. We loved him dearly. Our Prayers are with Velma and Family
If you wanted to go work at a project that he was leading and he was already filled up, Jake would tell you to come on. He would fine a place for you to Park.
My husband and I loved Jake. He was such a joy to be around. He always gave an encouraging word that would bless my heart.
