Mrs. Gertrude Neese Coggin's Obituary
Graveside Service for Mrs. Gertrude Neese Coggin, 96, of Opelika, will be Friday, April 23, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Hillview Memorial Park. Rev. Mitch Coggin will officiate.
Mrs. Coggin passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Arbor Springs Health and Rehab. She was born on June 3, 1924 in Dothan, Alabama to Daniel Dozier Neese and Stella Berry Neese. She was a member of Wayside Baptist Church and attended both Sixth Street Baptist and First Baptist Church in Alexander City. Mrs. Coggin was an avid reader and excellent poet and was published several times. She was very independent, intelligent, and loving to those that she loved.
She is survived by her children, Mike Coggin (Carol) of Auburn, Faye Tankersley of Beauregard, and Mitch Coggin (Linda) of Victoria Island, British Columbia; son-in-law, Bill McLeroy of Opelika; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; and her sister Verdeane Daniel of Opelika.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Amber McLeroy, two grandchildren, seven siblings; and her parents.
