So many memories!!! At this stage of life they come in waves>>not so much when I am looking for them, but when they come looking for me! Not just /Since Genie's passing, but after she wasn't able to come to Church or visit. I did not always know where she was...I couldn't always get her on the phone.
But I could be working @ home and would find something that would remind me of Genie. And when she and Jerry would visit before Teddy passed away. We would always "Eat First", Talk later! Because we didn't distract from our Food....and we didn't distract from our Talk! Jerry & Teddy would usually sit outside and talk...but Genie & I found more comfort inside! She has a very dry sense of humor that would tickle me silly! We also did family search days. We even went to Montgomery a couple of times. Of course it was easy for us to work together.....Cause past our grand parents on the Blanks side, we were both looking for the same people! Genie's Grandfather Luther Blanks and my grandmother Pearlie Mae (Aunt Pearl, to Genie and all the other children & grandchildren of that generation...they were two of 10 Children, Pearl was next to the youngest Berma, who died in childbirth. We laughed so many times....thinking we had more cousins that Carter had Liver Pills! And we Loved them all!
Of course we missed meeting a few of the older Siblings or their spouses, we felt close to them anyway, because we had SO many stories...because they were such a lovable family.
I have thought about writing a book about them. There were @ least three that married Siblings of other families! I have learned to be very careful how I state that...I made the mistake once by saying Mama Pearl & Aunt Cora married brothers....before I finished that statement...intermarriage was being questioned!!! Heaven Forbid!! So now I am very careful to use SIR names @ the mention of our double kin! LOL..Mother was an only Child of her mother....So she was very close to all her first cousins!!!
I have to stop now, My to DO list is tapping me on the shoulder! As all of you know I come from a LONG LIST of Talkers!! Bro Scott can verifie that point! He was my Pastor for the past 10 years!! And we already miss him.
Love to all of you who Loves Genie.
Ok, It is only fair that I close with my latest act of Dementia....@ least up to now. I was getting ready to go to Genies Funeral. Brian called from work
and Ask what I was doing. I told him I was getting dressed for the funeral!
He said,"Well I am afraid you are not going to make it". I said of course I will
it 's just, 12:00 O'clock! He said, Mother, the Funeral was @ Eleven!
I Had Assumed it was going to be @ 2:00!!! Proven once again not to ASSUME anything! So all of you who wondered why I didn't show up for the Funeral....don't Assume I didn't care, I was in tears for pretty much the rest of the day! I love you all, and don't have any of your phone numbers!
Martha Jean.
