My name is Yates W. Holley, I’m Dons grandson. I remember every time I called him after an auburn football game or when I went hunting and I’d say,” hey Papa Don, “ and he’d say,” Hey Mr. Yates.” And if auburn had losses he’d say,” the fire men fought bravely but the house burned down.”
Our deepest condolences to the family. We have many fond memories of times spent with Don in our younger years.

To Jill, Ken, and Paul,
I just heard about Don's passing a few minutes ago. I just wanted you to know there are very few people in the world I have admired as much as Don. I have two flintlock rifles that he helped me build, and always appreciated him giving freely his time to help me with them. Some of my favorite memories are shooting with Don at the range, and just having great conversation. His wit and friendship will be missed.

Ben and I are driving now from Milwaukee to Mobile to stay with Harold and Betty for two weeks so that Bob and Janet can get away. I loved being around your Dad and he always had great stories to tale. Very fond memories of sitting at Mom's breakfast room table and listening to their tales. Love to you all.
