Mr. Charles A. Browne, Jr.'s Obituary
Charles A. Browne, Jr. passed peacefully at his home on Lake Martin on Thursday morning, June 11, 2026 after an illness. He was surrounded by his family and supported by Father Rob Iler, Deacon Judy Quick, and Enhabit Hospice.
Charles A. Browne, Jr. (“Charlie”) was born to Charles A. Browne, Sr. and Katherine Amaro Browne. He is preceded in death by his parents, sibling Mary Ann Rohling, infant daughter Mary Frances Browne, daughter Jennifer Nabors, son Charles Browne (“Chuck”), and his loved grandchild Hailey Browne. He is survived by his children, Lisa Richard (Bob), Peter Browne (Christie) and Jamey Browne; son-in-law, Steve Nabors; daughter-in-law, Cathy; grandchildren, Trevor Browne (Martina), Vincent Browne, Charles Browne, Christoper Richard (Katie), Sarah Richard, Ethan Browne, Phoebe Browne (Norbert), Jake Browne, Anna Fasanello (Nick), Ellen Henry (Tyler), Laura Nabors, Sam Browne, Marie Browne and Riise Browne; great grandchildren, Luetta Fasanello, Sylvie Fasanello, Aura Fasanello, Oliver Richard, Levi Henry, Hayden Browne, Riley Stephens, Eloise Hinckley, Corbin Browne, and Connor Browne; many nieces and nephews, including his sister’s children, Lucille Hudecz (Johnny), Deanna Rohling and Edward Rohling, with whom he was especially close, as well as cousins and in-laws.
Charlie was past member and President of Greater Birmingham Chapter of the Alabama Society of Professional Land Surveyors, past member and president of Magic City Frogmen, and retired board member of Birmingham City Credit Union.
Charlie was born, lived, and worked in Birmingham as a licensed land surveyor and Civil Engineer with the City of Birmingham. He retired in 1992 to pursue his hobbies and spend time between Birmingham and the lake house he built on Lake Martin. He loved scuba diving and passed this on to his children, son-in-laws, and grandchildren. His quick wit, funny stories, and love of a good joke will be missed by so many.
The family wishes to thank the St. James Episcopal Church family for their support and love, as well as the many others that have been there for Charlie and the family throughout the years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Charlie’s memory to St. James Episcopal Church in Alexander City, AL.
A memorial service was held for Charlie on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at St. James Episcopal Church.
