Joe
Charlie was a special part of my life during a brief time in my teenage years. As a young man dating his oldest daughter, I probably gave him more reasons to worry than to welcome me. Yet he always treated me with kindness, warmth, and respect.
I will never forget being welcomed into the family home during the holidays, or the many wonderful times spent at Lake Martin. Charlie and his beloved Katherine opened their hearts and home to me and made me feel like I belonged there. They treated me no differently than they treated their own children, and that generosity left a lasting impression on me.
Nearly fifty years have passed, but I still remember Charlie's kindness. The older I get, the more I appreciate what a gift that was. He helped shape some of my happiest memories from those years, and I will always be grateful.
My deepest condolences to all of Charlie's family. He was a good man, and his kindness continues to be remembered long after those days at the lake.
