Carolyn Sue Gilbert's Obituary
A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Carolyn Sue Gilbert, 78, of Dadeville, will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Red Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Dorothy Scott officiating.
Carolyn Sue Webb Gilbert passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at Dadeville Healthcare Center. Born on March 7, 1946, in Dandridge, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Mr. John Webb, Jr. and Mrs. Jo Solomon Webb. On June 29, 1963, in Ringgold, Georgia, she married her best friend, Floyd Gary Gilbert, and created 61 years of memories together. Carolyn loved animals of all kinds and really enjoyed watching hummingbirds flutter across the yard. Her home was constantly occupied not only by neighborhood children but fur-babies as well.
Carolyn was a wonderful wife, mama, and "nana" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family stretched far beyond the walls of her home where she was known as a mama to many. Carolyn helped raise many children over the years and loved them all as her own. She would often fill in as coach during baseball practice for her husband and even bought a van to help transport kids to their practices and games. Carolyn's house was known for being the neighborhood hangout spot, and her door was always open to those that needed her. She provided a safe space for many where they knew she would keep their secrets. With a kind heart, outgoing personality, and loving nature, it was easy to confide in her. Carolyn offered a reprieve to many who sought comfort in her light and never missed the chance to say, "I Love You." It is appropriate that she loved lighthouses seeing as Carolyn was a beacon of light to many people during their storms. That same light will always be remembered for the guidance and illuminating love that shown brightly on this earth.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, Gary Gilbert; son, Donnie (Susan) Gilbert; daughter, Tammie Gilbert (Van) Brock; grandchildren, Brittney Gilbert (Josh ) Harris, Robbie Gilbert; great-grandchildren, Evelyn Harris, Nolan Harris; and sisters-in-law, Lynda Webb, and Peggy Webb. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Roy Webb, B.J. Webb, and Jackie Moore.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in honor of Carolyn to the church that was very near and dear to her heart: Red Ridge United Methodist Church-8091 Co Rd 34, Dadeville, AL 36853.
