Rev. William Brown Price, Sr., known affectionately to all as Bill, was called home to the Lord on December 20, 2023, at the blessed age of 93. Born under the Southern sun of Montgomery, Alabama, on March 30, 1930, Bill was a beam of light that shone through the lives of all who knew him. He departed this earthly realm in the peaceful town of Eclectic, Alabama, surrounded by the love and prayers of his cherished family.
Bill's life journey was one of service and devotion, not only to his family but also to his country and his faith. He was a proud alumnus of Huntington College and Emory University, where he laid down the foundations of his lifelong commitment to the ministry. Answering the call to serve, he became a spiritual guide and a beacon of hope as a Chaplain in the Army, and later, as a minister for the United Methodist Church. His works and deeds as a man of the cloth were felt far and wide, touching countless souls and spreading the good news of the Gospel.
In his personal life, Bill was a pillar of strength and love to his beloved wife, Annie R. Price; sons, William B. Price, Jr. (Linda), Michael Timothy Price (Shelia) and Kenneth Louis Price; daughter by marriage, Cynthia Traylor (Chris); grandchildren, Jennifer Price (Christ Foster), Kimberly Price, Amy Ford (Brian), Jeremy Price, Eva Middlebrooks, Joseph Traylor (Lauren), Hannah Bonner (Daniel), Heather Delgado (Nay) and Lindsey Prefer; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Muenzler, Brennan Foster, Bradyn Foster, Sarah Ford, Aiden Ford, Gunner Middlebrooks, Elizabeth Middlebrooks, Kyrah Hayes, Kenzie Hayes, Lillith Bonner, Skylar Griffeth, Phoenix Griffeth, Veronica Delgado, Sam Delgado, Ian Prefer and Olivia Prefer. Bill's life was a tapestry of joy and love, woven through the generations.
Bill was a man who found the presence of God in the great outdoors. He was happiest with a fishing rod in hand, a campfire crackling, and the open sky above. His garden was a testament to his patience and nurturing spirit, and his travels brought him closer to the wonders of God's creation. Bill's laughter was a familiar sound in the midst of his storytelling, and his jokes were a wellspring of joy to his family and friends. A man of unshakeable spirit, Bill was always grateful, always kind, and his love for people was as vast as the heavens.
Though we mourn the loss of such a spirited, loving, and kind soul, we are comforted by the knowledge that Bill is now in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father. He walks the streets of gold, reunited with his forebears who preceded him in death: his father, William Arthur Price, his mother, Nan Pippin Price, his son by marriage, Crawford Ziegler III, his brothers, John Price and Charles Price; and his sisters, Katherine Brown and Sandy Lallier.
Let us remember Rev. William Brown Price, Sr., not with sorrow in our hearts, but with gratitude for the blessing of his presence in our lives. Let us share the stories he told us, laugh as he would laugh, and love as he loved. For in doing so, we keep the spirit of Bill alive and honor the legacy of a man who was truly a servant of God, a leader in the community, and a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
As the Southern sun sets and the stars begin to twinkle in the night sky, let us say a prayer of thanks for the time we were given with Rev. William Brown Price, Sr. May we find solace in the knowledge that his light will forever shine in the hearts of those who loved him, and that his journey now continues beyond the veil, in the eternal peace of our Lord's kingdom.
Radney Funeral Home is honored to serve the Price family.
