Visitation for Mr. William O. “Bill” Lankford, Jr., age 69, of Alexander City, will be Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at the Hillview Mausoleum.
William O. "Bill" Lankford, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2023, in Alexander City, Alabama. Born on March 5, 1954, in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, Bill was known for his loving nature, gentle spirit, and infectious humor.
Bill was a proud graduate of Benjamin Russell High School and Central Alabama Community College. He had a successful career as an Auto Parts Salesman, where he was known for his diligence and commitment to his craft. His work ethic was admired by many, and he set a great example for his colleagues and family.
An avid Auburn fan, Bill was passionate about football and never missed an opportunity to engage in lively discussions about his favorite team. His love for Auburn was only second to his love for his family, with whom he cherished every moment spent. Bill's sense of humor was a source of joy to all who knew him, and his laughter will be remembered fondly by his loved ones.
Bill was also known for his impressive Christmas train village collection, which he took great pride in. His fascination with Snoopy was well-known among his friends and family, and his love for this character brought a smile to everyone's face. He was a man who found joy in the simplest things, and he had a unique ability to spread this joy to others.
One of his favorite pastimes was sharing cookies with his grandchildren. His love for them was immeasurable, and these cherished moments will forever be etched in their hearts. Bill was a very loving and giving individual, always putting the needs of others before his own.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol Osborn Lankford; his father, William Ormand Lankford, Sr.; his daughter, Kathryn W. Fuller (Joey); his son, Wesley B. Wilbanks (Kelli); his grandchildren, Madison Fuller Sherum (Brandon), Connor Fuller, Hayden Wilbanks, and Hudson Wilbanks; and his nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, William O. "Will" Lankford III; his mother, Nettie Lou Lankford; and his sister, Sharon Lankford Smith.
Bill's legacy of love, generosity, and humor will live on through his family and the countless lives he touched. He was a beacon of positivity who inspired everyone around him with his zest for life. His gentle spirit, loving nature, and brilliant sense of humor will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to bring smiles to those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
