William Edward Hodo's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. William Edward Hodo, 71, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Bro. Billy Coleman will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
William Hodo embarked on his final fishing trip to Heaven on Sunday, January 14, 2024, after a brave battle with cancer. He was born in Alexander City, Alabama, on Wednesday, September 10, 1952 to William Hodo and Adele Fox Hodo. William's legacy is one of unwavering dedication and kindness. For 40 years, William served as a Production Manager at Russell Corporation, where his commitment to his job and employees went far beyond the duty of manager. He would always give everything he could to the success of the business and wellbeing of his employees.
His commitment to his work was matched only by his devotion to his faith. As an active member of First Global Methodist Church, William inspired countless young lives through working with the church youth group. Affectionately known as "Mr. Willie," the children loved him, and he loved them in return.
William was an avid fisherman and master storyteller who could reel you in with one of his many stories-just know that you would be listening for awhile. The only thing William loved more than the tug on his fishing line was the tug on his heartstrings by his grandchildren, who lovingly called him, "Pop." He also enjoyed being around his fishing buddies and his Sunday school class who were considered an extension of his family. In every aspect of his life, William was a beacon of kindness and generosity, always extending a helping hand without any thought of recognition. His legacy of being a loving, caring, and generous man will continue to live in the hearts of all that knew him. Now, reunited with his wife, Carolyn, by his side, they can drift peacefully through sunset-colored waters and share the story of a life well lived together.
William is survived by his son, David William (Andee); daughter, Betsy Ray (Brian); grandchildren, Kaitlyn Ray, Henry Hodo, Chase Ray, Brianna Ray; brothers, David Hodo (Paige), James "Jim" Hodo (Sally); sister, Jean Hodo Clements; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Nail Hodo; and parents, William and Adele Hodo.
