Mr. William Rufus Duck's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. William Rufus Duck, 83, of Alexander City, will be Sunday, February 11, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Randy Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Duck passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Medical Center Barbour in Eufaula. He was born on August 31, 1934 in Eagle Creek, Alabama to Hiriam Grant Duck and Edna Alice Thomas Duck. He was a member of Orr Street Baptist Church. Mr. William served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War Era. He started working for Russell Corporation when he was 17 years old and retired with 45 ½ years of service. He enjoyed gardening, working in his yard and taking trips with his family. He also loved to sing and had a wonderful Bass voice and sung with the Circuit Riders Quartet. He loved his family very much, especially his granddaughter, Kayla who was the apple of his eye.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruby J. Duck of Alexander City; daughter, Susan D. McSwean of Dothan; granddaughter, Kayla E. Greathouse (Dustin) of Midland City, great granddaughter, Blakely Rose Greathouse; brother, Aaron Duck of Eagle Creek; and sister, Margaret Alice White of Eagle Creek.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sarah Henley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be given to Orr Street Baptist Church, 939 O Street, Alexander City, AL 35010 or the Tallapoosa Christian Crisis Center, 4425 Dadeville Road, Alexander City, AL 35010.
