Wendell F. Elliott's Obituary
Wendell Fred Elliott, 88, passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Monday, June 25, 2018. He was born on April 29, 1930 in Ashland, Alabama.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Radney Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Dr. Wayne Wright will officiate and honors will be provided by the Alexander City Police Honor Guard. The committal service will be held following the service at 1:00 pm at Green Hill Cemetery in Childersburg.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Hale Elliott; two sons, Adam Gregg Elliott and Jonalan Jason Wright (Tara); one daughter Amanda Kathleen Wright; four grandchildren, MaKayla Kathleen Wright, Katherine Anne Wright, Tyler Kacey Wright, and Wendell David Elliott; two sisters, Lou Ann Elliott Hollis and Judy Elliott McGee (Mike); nephew, Andy Dean Hollis (Gina); great- niece, Sydney Gayle Hollis; and great-nephew, Brian Corey Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell Fred Elliott and Ila Gregg Elliott; brother-in-law, Mickey Dean Hollis; niece, Ami Hollis Smith; and nephew, Brian Keith Jones.
Wendell spent his life in service to his Lord, his country, his community, his friends, and to his dearly loved family.
Wendell served in the United States Navy during the Korean War spending four years on the USS Hampshire County LST. He served in various state department jobs before landing the pinnacle of his career, Deputy US Marshal for the Middle District of Alabama. After retiring from the DOJ, he went to work doing what he loved best…talking to people and making lifelong friendships at Russell Lands.
His children and grandchildren were the circle that completed him and each one in their own uniqueness held a special place in his heart.
