Mrs. Wanda Lou Powell Jones' Obituary
Funeral Service for Mrs. Wanda Lou Powell Jones, 76, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Rocky Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Harold Cummings and Bro. Ray Dunn will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rocky Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 21, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jones passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at her residence. She was born on August 30, 1940 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to James Vesper Powell and Mary Hannah Harris Powell. She was an active member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church. She owned and operated Warrior Snack Center in Perryville for many years. Prior to that she worked with several local retail stores and sewing factories. She loved yard sales, reading, watching western movies, and traveling. She dearly loved her family, especially the grandchildren, and was the glue that held them all together.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Joe W. Jones of Cowpens; daughters, Andrea Dawn Jones and Jennifer Jones Woodruff (Steve) both of New Site; Grandchildren, Jacob Kimbrel, Trey Beeghly, Hannah Kimbrel and Andrew Beeghly; sisters, Helen Faye Boyd of Alexander City, and Karen Jean Ard of Pell City; sisters-in-law, Annie Faye Jones of Daviston, and Elizabeth Huett (Jimmy) of New Site; brothers-in-law, Lavell Jones (Diane) and Darryl Jones both of Daviston and Ricky Jones of Cartersville, GA; a host of nieces, nephews and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, James Adrian Powell and George Robert Powell.
The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice 124 Aliant Parkway, Alexander City, AL 35010.
The family would like to express their thanks to the nurses and staff of Southern Care Hospice, special niece Kem Jones, and the wonderful neighbors of the Cowpens Community.
