Funeral Service for Mrs. Wanda Harris, 75, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Monday, December 2, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Shane Harris will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 2, 2024 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Harris passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at Brookwood Medical Center. She was born on July 30, 1949 in Alexander City, Alabama to Clemmie Betts and Estean Cleveland Vicker. She was an active member of New Elkahatchee Baptist Church.
Wanda Jean Harris, affectionately known as Wanda to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, at the age of 75. Born on July 30, 1949, Wanda's life was marked by a remarkable devotion to her loved ones and an undeniable warmth that touched everyone she met. Her radiant smile and caring nature will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Wanda was a proud graduate of Benjamin Russell High School, where she cultivated lifelong friendships and a love for her community. Her journey through life was shared with her beloved husband, Russell Harris, of Alexander City, Alabama. Together, they created a beautiful tapestry of memories that will be cherished forever.
Wanda's legacy continues through her adoring children, Bryan (Denean) Patterson of Dadeville, Alabama, and Tracey (Ben) Morris of Durango, Colorado. She was a pillar of strength and the epitome of love for her grandchildren, Cody Patterson, Jacob Patterson, and Danielle Morris. Her role as a grandmother was one she held dear, and the joy she experienced during family gatherings, especially over the holidays, was palpable.
She is also survived by her caring sister, Ann Freeman, and her devoted brothers, Kenneth (Debra) Betts and Wade (Janet) Betts. Wanda's extended family included her sister-in-law, Vivian (Russ) Bricken, and brother-in-law, Rex Harris. Her stepfather, Frank Vickers, and a host of nieces and nephews, also survive her, each of whom benefitted from her loving guidance and generous spirit.
Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Clemmie Betts, and her mother, Estean Vicker. The values they instilled in her were evident in the way she lived her life and loved her family.
Those who knew Wanda will remember her as loving, thoughtful, and friendly. She had an incredible ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. Her presence was a source of comfort and joy to her family and friends. Wanda's thoughtfulness extended beyond her immediate circle, as she was known for her caring actions and kind words to all she encountered.
As we say goodbye to Wanda, we celebrate the life she lived and the love she gave. Her impact on our lives is indelible, and her memory will be held in our hearts forever.
Wanda's departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her spirit will continue to inspire those she left behind. Her example of love and kindness will be the beacon that guides us through our own journeys. Wanda Jean Harris will be profoundly missed, but the essence of who she was will live on in the countless lives she touched.
