Mrs. Velera Waldrop Oliver's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mrs. Velera Waldrop Oliver, 92, of New Site, Alabama, will be Monday, July 18, 2022 at 3:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Tom Drake and Randy Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park with John Worthy officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 18, 2022 from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Oliver passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022 at her residence. She was born on October 15, 1929 in the Mountain Community of Clay County, Alabama to Durell Crayton Waldrop and Katie Grimes Waldrop. Velera had a smile that would light up any room. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. Velera worked at Russell Corporation #9 Mill as a line waitress. She always wanted to be busy doing something, made the very best homemade bread, tea cakes, craklin cornbread, pepper jelly, chocolate pudding, and chocolate pound cake, which she loved to share all of her cooking with others. Velera also loved to witness and share God with others.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Bruce (Windell); son, David Oliver (Carol); grandchildren, Todd Bruce (Tammy), Tanya Worthy (John), Shay Conway (Mickie), Davonna Woodham (Matt), Jason Cromer, and Dalton Lucas; great-grandchild, Cody Bruce, Katie Worthy, Libby Alvarado (Alfonso), Cody Worthy, Austin Woodham, Gabby Nelson, Brayden Conway, Chase Woodham, Nathan Nelson, Graham Cromer, Maddie Cromer; great great-grandson Seth Alvarado; sister, Virginia Mask (Billy); sisters in law, Wynell Coker and Ruby Gay Roberts; brother in law, Joe Bob Ingram; special friend, Shirley Britton; special caregivers, Shirley Foster Glenn and Reba Ann Lamberth; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Raymond Hugo Oliver; parents; and several sisters and brothers.
The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to New Salem Baptist Church Building Fund, 13930 Highway 22 E, New Site, Alabama 36256.
