Mr. Beckman passed away on June 10, 2026, at the age of 70, leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, generosity, and joyful service to others.
Born on June 17, 1955, in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to James Douglas Beckman and Mary Lou Brown Beckman, he lived a life rooted in Christian faith and guided by a sincere desire to honor the Lord in all that he did. He was a man who believed in the power of prayer, the importance of church, and the value of living each day with humility and purpose. Those who knew him will remember his steady presence, his kind spirit, and the quiet strength that marked his life.
For more than 22 years, Tommy Joe served in the ministry, answering a sacred calling with devotion and faithfulness. He served as Pastor at Town Creek Baptist Church, where he shepherded the congregation with compassion, biblical conviction, and a heart for people. His ministry touched many lives through preaching, encouragement, and faithful leadership. He was a servant of God who sought to point others toward Christ, and his influence will continue to be felt by those who were blessed to sit under his teaching and witness his example.
In addition to his work in the ministry, he spent more than 40 years working as a truck driver by trade. He was known for his strong work ethic and his willingness to do what was needed to provide for those he loved. His life reflected the dignity of honest labor, and he carried himself with the kind of dependability that earned the respect of coworkers, friends, and neighbors alike. He understood the value of perseverance and responsibility, and he lived those values every day.
Tommy Joe also had a joyful side that brought delight to many, especially during the Christmas season. He loved playing Santa every Christmas, bringing smiles and laughter to children and adults alike. He embraced the spirit of the season with warmth and generosity, and he took great joy in making Christmas memorable for others. He was also well known for the elaborate Christmas light setup at his home each year, a tradition that became a cherished part of the holiday season for many in the community. His home reflected not only his love for Christmas, but also his desire to share joy and wonder with everyone around him.
He will be remembered as a faithful Christian man, a devoted pastor, a hardworking truck driver, and a joyful presence in the lives of many. His life was a testimony to the goodness of God, and his memory will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved him. Though he has departed this earthly life, those who trust in the Lord take comfort in the promise of eternal life and the hope of reunion in heaven.
May he rest in the peace of Christ, and may his life continue to inspire gratitude, faith, and love in the hearts of those who carry his memory forward.
