Mr. McCain, known to many simply as Tommy, passed away on April 16, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and steadfast devotion to the people he loved.
Tommy was born on August 16, 1959 in Alexander City, Alabama to Marion Abram McCain and Annie Lorene Smith McCain Robinson, and throughout his life he carried himself with quiet strength, humility, and a generous spirit. He was a kind man in the truest sense, one who treated others with respect and compassion and who made those around him feel valued. His life was marked by sincerity and grace, and he will be remembered by all who knew him as a man of integrity and warmth.
For many years, Tommy worked faithfully at Russell Mills, where he earned the respect of his coworkers through his dedication and dependable work ethic. When he retired, he left behind not only years of service, but also the admiration of those who had the privilege of working beside him. He approached his responsibilities with diligence and pride, and his commitment reflected the character of a man who understood the value of honest labor.
Tommy was also a devoted friend to many. He had a way of making others feel welcome and cared for, and his friendships were built on loyalty, trust, and genuine concern. He was the kind of friend who could be counted on in times of need, and his presence brought comfort and encouragement to those around him. His memory will remain a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to share in his friendship.
He found joy in the simple and meaningful pleasures of life, especially fishing, noodling for catfish, hunting and bird waching. These interests gave him time to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation and the peace that came from being outdoors. Whether he was spending quiet moments by the water or enjoying time in the field, Tommy appreciated the gifts of life with gratitude and contentment.
Tommy was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan. Few things brought him as much joy as sitting around the TV and enjoying a game with his friends and family.
Above all, Tommy was a devout Christian who loved the Lord with all his heart. His faith was not merely something he professed, but something he lived each day through his words, actions, and example. He trusted in God’s promises and sought to walk in the light of Christ. His life was a testimony to the power of faith, and he leaves behind the comforting assurance that he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior.
Tommy also loved his family dearly, and his devotion to them was evident in all he did. He cherished the bonds of family and held those relationships close to his heart. His love, guidance, and steady presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will continue to bring comfort and strength in the days ahead.
Though his earthly journey has come to an end, Tommy's life remains a beautiful witness to faith, love, and faithful living. Those who mourn his passing do so with sorrow, yet they also take comfort in the hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ. May the Lord grant peace to all who grieve, and may Tommy rest in the everlasting arms of his Savior.
He is survived by his brothers, Marion David (Linda) McCain of Opelika and Barry Lee (Amanda) McCain of Goodwater; sister, Laura Talley of Daviston; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Diane McCain; and sisters, Patti Nell Davis and Mary Ann Peters.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Brown Nursing Home and the Russell Medical Center ER for their loving and compassionate care for Tommy.
Radney Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Thomas Michael McCain.
