Mr. Terry Norwood, known affectionately to all as Terry, was a beacon of joy and generosity in the lives of those who knew him. Born on May 14, 1967, in Alexander City, Alabama to Robert Albert Norwood and Edna Earl Woodfin Norwood, he embarked on a life that would be characterized by love, service, and an unquenchable zest for adventure. Terry's journey through this world came to a peaceful close on December 31, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness that will be cherished forever.
Terry was a man who embraced life with both hands, infusing every moment with laughter and positivity. He was a devoted Christian who lived his faith through his actions, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement. His love for the outdoors was evident to all, as he spent countless hours camping at Wind Creek State Park, engaging in spirited karaoke sessions under the stars, fishing on the Alabama River, and exploring the beauty of nature on his motorcycle or kayak.
A loving husband to his wife, Trish Norwood of Alexander City, AL, Terry was the rock of his family. His unwavering support and affection were the cornerstones upon which his family built their lives. As a father, he instilled in his children, Megan Michelle Norwood, Hannah Maria Pelico, Justin Wayne (Stephanie) Norwood, Gavin Bryce Norwood, and Austin Orlando (Cheyenne) Pelico, the values of love, perseverance, and the joy of discovery. His playful spirit lives on in his grandsons, Cody Ryan Doler, Ezreal Damir Pelico, Damien Cole Norwood, and Kaiden Wade Norwood, who will carry the torch of his adventurous soul.
Terry's sisters, Tina Smith and Teresa (Ronnie) Tharp, along with Jordan Smith, Shane Wall, Dale Smith, Dewayne Jordan, James Driggers, and Dallas Smith, remember him as the glue that held the family together, always ready with a tool in hand and a solution in mind. His knack for fixing things, whether it be a stubborn engine or a rough day, was unmatched.
He was a man who was as handy with a wrench as he was with a comforting embrace. Terry's talents extended far beyond the garage; he was a craftsman of life, building a world around him that was full of love, laughter, and the occasional perfectly grilled “Terry Burger.”
While Terry's earthly chapter has concluded, his story continues in the lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Albert Norwood, and his mother, Edna Earl Norwood, who both instilled in him the values of hard work and compassion that he carried throughout his life.
Let us honor Terry's memory by living as he did-with open hearts, daring spirits, and hands always extended in friendship. May we find comfort in knowing that his journey was a masterpiece of joy, his life a symphony of love, and his legacy a testament to the power of living generously. Terry Norwood's memory will forever inspire us to embrace the beauty of the world, the thrill of adventure, and the joy of loving without reservation. His was a life well-lived, a race well-run, and a story that will continue to motivate and uplift all who were fortunate enough to be a part of it. Rest well, dear Terry, your light shines on.
