Mrs. Sylvia Saunders Rush's Obituary
Graveside Service for Mrs. Sylvia Saunders Rush, 89, of Alexander City, AL will be Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 10:00 am at the Dark-Maxwell Cemetery.
Mrs. Rush passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at her residence with her two daughters by her side. She was born on November 20, 1936, in Alexander City, AL to Stewart Saunders and Louise Dark Saunders.
She is survived by her daughters, Sylvia Anthony (Dave) Harris of Alexander City, AL, Ann "Dark" Rush (Jonathan Milan Pollock) of Canton, GA and granddaughters, Hillary Ann (Reid) McCullough of Sarasota, FL, and Lillian Alexandra Harris of Alexander City, AL.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles Wiley Rush; parents and brother, Thomas Byron Saunders.
Each of her daughters and granddaughters had a special nickname for her. Sylvia called her “Muzzie,” Dark called her “Mompy,” Hillary and Lillian lovingly knew her as “Gaga.” She was the sweetest, most loving, and precious mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Eye Research Foundations in Alabama or The Dementia Society of America.
