Steven Dewayne Price, known affectionately to all as Steven, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2024, in Jefferson City, Tennessee, at the age of 52. Born on May 19, 1971, in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, Steven's life was characterized by his gentle nature, his kindness, and his capacity for love, traits that earned him the admiration and affection of all who knew him.
A proud graduate of Benjamin Russell High School, Steven carried the spirit of his hometown with him throughout his life. His passion for sports was undeniable, and he could often be found cheering on his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide, a devotion that was reflected in his impressive collection of sports caps-though notably, none bore the Auburn insignia, as his battle cry was always "Roll Tide."
Steven's love extended beyond the football field to all of God's creatures, especially his cherished late kitty, Sheeba. His faith was as steadfast as his love for animals, and he was a dedicated member of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, where his presence was a source of comfort and joy to the congregation.
Known as the "Mayor" of Walmart, Steven's affable nature turned a simple shopping trip into an opportunity to connect with others. His seat in the store was more than just a place to rest-it was his podium from which he greeted friends and strangers alike, always with a cheerful word and a smile that could brighten even the gloomiest of days.
Steven was a cherished son, a devoted brother, and a faithful friend. He was nurtured and loved by his dear mother, Annie Vivian Price. His brother, Terry Price, along with his wife Gina, will carry Steven's memory in their hearts. Our brother Steven was greeted in Heaven by his father, Horace L. Price, who preceded him in death.
Steven's legacy is one of unwavering positivity and warmth. He never met a stranger, and his ability to share a kind word with everyone he encountered made him a beacon of light in the community. His loving nature was not just an attribute but a way of life, and it touched the hearts of everyone he met.
As we bid farewell to Steven Dewayne Price, we celebrate the life of a man who exemplified the best of us. His gentle spirit and kind heart were gifts to all who had the pleasure of knowing him, and his memory will continue to inspire us to live with love and kindness.
We take comfort in the knowledge that Steven's love lives on in the countless lives he touched. His influence will continue to be felt in the stands of every Alabama game, in the quiet pews of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, and in the aisles of Walmart, where his spirit of community and friendship will always be remembered.
As we honor Steven's life, let us hold close the lessons he imparted through his actions: to love unconditionally, to speak kindly, and to embrace life with joy and enthusiasm. May his soul rest in peace, and may his example guide us in our own journeys.
