Mr. Steve Frank "Bear" Wilson's Obituary
Funeral service for Mr. Steve Frank “Bear” Wilson, 65, of Jacksonville, will be Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Luke Smallwood will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 30, 2012 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home. \r\n\r\nMr. Wilson passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 7, 1947 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to Billy Griffin Wilson and Flora Mae Hill Wilson and was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Wilson graduated from Benjamin Russell High School and then served in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from Alex City Junior College and attended AUM. He worked in law enforcement and government jobs for the majority of his working life and retired from the State Revenue Dept. as a Lt. in the Enforcement Division. Mr. Wilson was known as the “Peanut Man” in Collinsville and Summerville, was an avid Auburn fan, loved Southern Gospel music, and was a DJ for the Sunday morning gospel hour in Heflin, Opelika, Gadsden, and Jacksonville.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gloria Jeanette Miller Wilson; uncle, Larry Hill (Kale) of Opelika; sisters-in-law, June Parker (Gerald) of Alexander City and Judith Shaner (David) of Wetumpka; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.\r\n\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents.\r\n
