Stephen Wiley Sallas' Obituary
Stephen Wiley Sallas, known affectionately as Steve, was born on June 14, 1948, in Sylacauga, Alabama. He passed away on September 28, 2023, in Rockford, Alabama. Known for his humor, wisdom, and selflessness, Steve lived a life full of love, joy, and service to others.
Steve was a proud graduate of Coosa County High School, where he formed many lifelong friendships and developed his strong work ethic. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to own and operate Sallas Roofing, a business that not only provided a service to the community but also served as a testament to Steve's dedication and commitment to his work.
His love for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies. Steve found peace and solace in the country, where he could often be found riding his tractor, tending to his garden, or working in the yard. He was an avid fisherman, always ready to share a tale about the one that got away. His love for his dog, Freckles, was well-known, and the two were inseparable companions.
Steve's family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Sallas (Mike Proctor) and sons Micheal Sallas (Missy) and Stephen Sallas II. His love for his family extended to his grandchildren Dylan Sallas (Jordan), Cecelia Garrity (Derek), Cara Bryant, and Max Heaslett (Caroline), and his great-grandchildren Joshua Brown, McKinley Garrity, Raelyn Mitchell, Hasten Sallas, Malakai Mitchell, Journey Mitchell, Dawson Sallas, and Bryce Heaslett.
Steve's family also includes his mother, Mavis Sallas, sister Sandra Wilson, and brothers Larry Sallas (Cathy), Gregory Sallas, and Jeffrey Sallas. He was preceded in death by his father, Enoch Sallas, and his beloved wife, Dianne Warren Sallas.
Steve's relationships with his siblings were a source of great joy and companionship. The memories created during their times together will live on, a testament to the bonds of family.
In every aspect of his life, Steve exemplified the qualities of generosity, wisdom, and humor. He was selfless, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a word of advice. His sense of humor was infectious, and he could always be counted on to lighten the mood with a joke or a funny story.
Steve will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but also for his character. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and a life well-lived. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
