Mrs. Shirley Pearce's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mrs. Shirley Pearce, 84, of Alexander City, will be Monday, November 17, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Will Baker will officiate. There will be a private committal service to follow. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 17, 2025 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Pearce passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, at Chapman's Nursing Home. Born on May 4, 1941, in Alexander City, AL to Howell Curtis McAlister and Claudie Lula Robertson McAlister, Shirley's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and the joy she brought to those around her.
Shirley, alongside her beloved husband Lewey, was a well-known figure in the community through their successful management of Dairy Quick and Dairy Creem from 1975 until 1990. Her passionate spirit and commitment to her work were evident to all who knew her. After leaving the food industry, Shirley continued to showcase her managerial talents at Russell Retail Store until her retirement in 2011. Her colleagues and employees always spoke highly of her caring nature and the genuine relationships she cultivated with them.
A woman of faith, Shirley enjoyed attending services at River of Life Worship Center with her sister-in-law, Joanne Adams.
Shirley's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, always putting her family at the forefront of her life. Her love for reading was matched by her creative spirit, which she expressed through painting. Shirley's role as a Cub Scout Den Mother reflected her dedication to nurturing and guiding the young minds in her care.
Her love for entertainment was evident in her fondness for game shows and westerns, which brought her much joy and relaxation. Above all, Shirley's love for her sons and grandsons was the cornerstone of her existence. She was a woman who not only raised a family but also built a community through her kindness, hard work, and the deep care she had for everyone she met.
Mrs. Shirley Pearce's legacy is one of love, service, and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of others. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Shirley's life was a beautiful portrait of the impact one person can have on the lives of many, and she will be profoundly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Lewey Pearce of Alexander City; sons, Ricky (Dawn) Pearce of Dalton, GA and Kenneth (Angie) Pearce of Alexander City; grandchildren, Ryan Pearce and Carson Pearce; and brother, Frank (Geneva) McAlister.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Robert McAlister, Avery McAlister, Elmer McAlister, Reynolds "Rent" McAlister, Alvin "Bud" McAlister, Joyce Branch, Sarah Spraggins, Virginia Strickland, Lula Earle Wilson, Julia Thomas.
