Mrs. Shirley Ann Hack McHargue's Obituary
Funeral service for Mrs. Shirley Ann Hack McHargue, 69, of Alexander City, will be Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 3:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Dr. Albert Pike, Rev. Walter Coleman, and Rev. Ed Frantz will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until the time of service at Radney Funeral Home. \r\n\r\nMrs. McHargue passed away on Monday, May 17, 2010 at Brown Nursing Home. She was born on May 26, 1940 in Russellville, Alabama to Harvey Benjamin Comer and Gracie Lee Fisher Comer. She was a member of River Road Baptist Church and worked as a nurse for Russell Home Health and Hospice. She also worked as a private sitter and was a dedicated caregiver. She loved to go to church, cook, and shop, especially for shoes and purses with her sister. Mrs. McHargue was a die hard Auburn fan and was a practical jokester. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed trips to the beach and mountains. She loved to sing and enjoyed country and gospel music. \r\n\r\nShe is survived by her daughters Teressa Carpenter (James), Beverly Easterwood, Candace Simmons (Kevin) and Dawn McHargue Culp, all of Alexander City; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Hartley (Lamar) of Dadeville; sister-in-law, Dora Comer; special friends, Elaine Mims, Rev. Walter Coleman, Donnie and Tommy Ewing and Esther Kelley; and her church family.\r\n\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James "Sonny" McHargue; brothers, Charles Comer and Leroy Comer and sister-in-law, Eva Pearl Comer.\r\n\r\nThe family would like to send a special thanks to Brown Nursing Home and Alacare Hospice. \r\n\r\nThe family request NO FLOWERS, but memorial donations be made to Alacare Hospice, 33 Aliant Pkwy, Alexander City, AL 35010, River Road Baptist Church, 148 Dean Rd., Alexander City, AL 35010, or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network @ www.pancan.org.
