Over the past 14 years I have visited Mr. Sherwood many times at his home. He was my friend AND bow hunting partner. We shared several hunts together and he was always interested in my hunting stories and trophy bucks. Every visit began with his favorite line, "Tell me about the hunt!" For several years it was my pleasure to process venison for him and Mrs. Stewart--personally! On one particular visit I asked him about his wartime service, the mood of the country, and what was the greatest change he experienced in his life. It was a marvelous conversation--a living history lesson! Sometimes, special people come into our lives, spouses and children, for sure. For me, a good hunting partner is also one of those special people--Mr. Sherwood was mine. My bowhunting this year will be dedicated to his memory and his appreciation of 'the hunt.' I miss him! Small in size, but grand in stature and heart.
