Ms. Shelia Fennell's Obituary
Funeral Service for Ms. Shelia Fennell, 59, of Alexander City, will be Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Alexander City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Radney Funeral Home.
Ms. Fennell passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Brookwood Medical Center with her children by her side. She was born on September 26, 1965 in Alexander City, Alabama to Bobby Lee Fennell and Betty Joyce Davis Fennell. In 2004, Shelia proudly graduated from Faulkner University with a Bachelor's of Science in Human Resources, which she parlayed into a successful career as a paralegal, working alongside Thomas Radney.
Known for her unwavering loyalty and work ethic, Shelia approached her responsibilities with diligence and care. Yet, it was in the role of mother and "Yaya" that she truly excelled, pouring endless love and joy into the lives of her children and grandchildren. Her capacity to balance her professional life with her family obligations was a testament to her incredible strength and character.
One of Shelia's favorite past times was Call of Duty haha. Her spirit, commitment, and passion will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
She is survived by her son, Hampton Fennell Stalnaker of Alexander City; daughter, Lauren Grace (Lee) Powell of Gulf Shores; grandchildren, Charleston Powell, Kace Powell, and Annabella Skarecky; sister, Carrie Montgomery; and aunts, Patricia Anderson and Debbie Sumners.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Tracy Fennell and Rallin Fennell; and aunt, Billie Jean Vickers.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her closest friends and classmates, the Benjamin Russell Class of 1984, for their selfless and unwavering care and love of Shelia during her last few days.
