Funeral Service for Ms. Sharon Cooley Cleveland, 79, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 12:30 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Russell DeLee will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Sharon Cooley Cleveland, a devoted Christian, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, at USA Healthcare. She was born on February 5, 1947, in Tallapoosa County, Alabama, to Fred Cooley and Julia Wilma Blair Pender. Throughout her life, Sharon was known for her generous spirit, her faith-filled heart, and the selfless way she cared for those around her.
Sharon lived a life centered on family, faith, and quiet devotion. She attended Victory Baptist Church and was an avid reader of the Bible, drawing strength, comfort, and guidance from her faith each day. Her Christian beliefs were not simply a part of her life, but the foundation of it. She carried herself with grace and humility, and those who knew her were blessed by her gentle presence and steadfast love.
As a homemaker, Sharon devoted herself to creating a warm and caring home for her family. She found joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life. Her home was a place of love, comfort, and welcome, and her family will always remember the kindness and devotion she poured into every day. She especially treasured time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her love for them was deep and unwavering.
Sharon also enjoyed reading the Bible, watching westerns, and spending time with her cats. These were among the quiet pleasures that brought her happiness and peace. She appreciated the comfort of familiar routines and the beauty of a life lived with purpose and faith. Her interests reflected her gentle nature and her appreciation for the blessings of home and family.
She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Berry and her husband Phillip, and Sherry Harris and her husband Terry; her son, James W. Cleveland; seventeen grandchildren; and thirty-eight great-grandchildren and sister, Judy Gail Williams. Her family was the center of her world, and she leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through each generation. The memories she created with them will remain a source of comfort and strength in the years ahead.
Sharon was preceded in death by her daughters, Christine Cleveland Price and Amanda Ann Ward, as well as her parents, Fred Cooley and Julia Wilma Blair Pender and siblings, Joel Lavon Cooley, Ocie Donald Cooley, and Thomas Eugene Cooley, Peggye Ann Cooley Cleveland and Barbara Jean Cooley Wheeles.
Though her family grieves her passing, they take comfort in knowing she is now at peace and reunited with those who went before her.
Those who knew Sharon will remember her as a woman of faith, kindness, and quiet strength. She was generous in spirit, selfless in her care for others, and faithful in her walk with the Lord. Her life was a testament to the power of love, devotion, and enduring faith. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
