Sarah Nell Henderson Stone, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away surrounded by the warmth of her family's love. Born into the caring arms of George Washington Henderson and Sophie Jane Henderson, Sarah's early years were filled with the nurturing spirit that she would later share with everyone she met. Her brother, Lee Henderson, with whom she shared a childhood of cherished memories, preceded her in death and now welcomes her into eternal peace.
Sarah's journey through education began at Dadeville High School, where she graduated in 1965, carrying with her the seeds of the diligent and passionate person she was to become. She furthered her education at Alexander City Junior College, establishing a foundation of knowledge and community spirit that would guide her throughout her life.
Devoting 44 years of her life to the Russell Corporation, Sarah's work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident to all who had the pleasure of working alongside her. Her retirement marked the end of a professional era, but the beginning of new adventures that she embraced with open arms.
A devoted Christian, Sarah's faith was an integral part of her life. She was a dedicated member of New Elkahatchee Baptist Church, where she found strength and solace in her beliefs and the fellowship of her church family.
Sarah's zest for life shone through in her love for fishing with her beloved husband, Durell W. Stone, of Alexander City, AL. Their shared moments by the water were among her most treasured times. Disney World held a special place in her heart as a destination of joy and wonder, a place where the magic of her spirit could run as free as her laughter. But above all, it was the time spent with her family that Sarah cherished most deeply.
Her legacy of love lives on through her children: John David Payne (Margaret), Barry D. Stone (Ryann), and Rebecca Jill Adams. Each of them carries a part of Sarah's spirit and love in their hearts. Her grandchild, Austin Kenneth Adams, will continue to be inspired by the tales of his grandmother's generosity and passion for life.
Sarah was a woman described best by the words generous, loving, and passionate. She gave freely of herself to everyone she encountered, and her love knew no bounds. Her passion for life's simple joys was contagious, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched.
As we say farewell to Sarah Nell Henderson Stone, we celebrate a life lived with open arms, a heart full of love, and a spirit that touched us all. Her memory will be cherished, her lessons carried forward, and her love felt forevermore.
