Sarah Wilbanks Carlisle's Obituary
Graveside services for Mrs. Sarah Wilbanks Carlisle will be Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 3:00 pm at the Alexander City Cemetery. Rev. Chip Vann will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Sarah Wilbanks Carlisle died peacefully on October 18, 2024, in Birmingham, AL.
She was born in Tampa, FL, March 10, 1938, to Mary Steverson Wilbanks and Frazier Daniel Wilbanks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Steverson Wilbanks and Frazier Daniel Wilbanks, husband Dwight Lester Carlisle, Jr., husband James Chapman Carlisle.
She is survived by daughters Danice Wilbanks Carlisle, Sarah Rebecca Carlisle (Nancy Collins), and Meredith Carlisle McMillan (George III).
Sarah moved to Alexander City as a teenager, and was a member of First United Methodist Church. ‘Miss Sarah’, as she was affectionately known to many, spent her life caring for others.
She was an avid reader, gardener, flower arranger, painter, traveler, and hostess. Her happiest times were spent entertaining others. Sarah enjoyed her Tuesday Study Club, Bridge Club, and Garden Club. She spent happy years in her garden in Tahilla, Ireland, and loved hosting friends and family there.
Sarah was devoted to her family and friends. She will be remembered as a generous, kind, loving, and joyful soul. The family is grateful for special friend Cindy Martin and many caregivers in her final months.
