Mrs. Sara Allie McGowan's Obituary
Graveside Service for Mrs. Sara Allie McGowan, 81, of Alexander City, will be Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Bice Cemetery. Rev. Sheldon Hutcherson will officiate.
Mrs. McGowan passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Coosa Valley Medical Center (Sylacauga). She was born on January 16, 1942, in Alexander City, Alabama to Clyde F. Steverson and Sarah E. Thornton Steverson. She was a member of Ray Baptist Church. Sara was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking. She also had a green thumb when it came to flowers and every year, she filled her yard with beautiful flowers of all colors.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Herman Royce McGowan of Alexander City; son, Eric McGowan of Calera; daughter, Misha McGowan; stepsons, Jesse Cole-McGowan, Rick Cole; grandchildren, Bonnie Canary, Tonya McGowan; brothers, John Steverson (Charlene), Wayne Steverson (Sandra); great-grandchildren, Blake, Samantha, Kyler, Madison, Sammy, Pryscila and Kaelyn.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
