Mr. Sanford Lynn Meadows' Obituary
Funeral service for Mr. Sanford Meadows, 84, of New Site, Alabama, will be Sunday, July 5, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at New Salem Baptist Church. Rev. Tom Drake and Randy Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem-New Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 5, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at New Salem Baptist Church.
Mr. Meadows passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at his residence. He was born on November 12, 1941, in Alexander City, Alabama to Samuel Jackson “Jack” Meadows and Ruth Lee Cotney Meadows. He was an active member of New Salem Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, music director, and deacon. He was a lifelong educator and was a teacher and principal at New Site High School and Assistant Superintendent of Tallapoosa County Schools. He deeply loved his wife, family, and friends, and enjoyed keeping up with Auburn athletics in his free time.
He is survived by his son, Sanford Lynn Meadows, Jr. (Tanya); his grandchildren, Tyler Daniel Meadows (Brooke), and Sydney Meadows Bowman (Ryan); his great-grandchildren, Mary Ellis Bowman, Taysom Daniel Meadows, and Robert Ford Bowman; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stacie Lana Meadows; his wife, Linda Elizabeth Wilson Meadows; his parents; and his siblings, Samuel Meadows, Jacquellyn Storey, and Mary Van Willoughby.
The family will accept flowers, or contributions may be made to New Salem Baptist Church, 13930 Highway 22 East, New Site, AL 36256. The family would like to thank the New Site Volunteer Fire Department, Hackneyville Volunteer Fire Department, Eagle Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Alexander City Fire Department, Daviston Volunteer Fire Department, New Site Police Department, and Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance. The family is also very grateful for Angela and Jessica Bishop, as well as Brett Strickland and Savannah and Dustin Mullens.
