Mrs. Sandra Jeanette McClendon Newberry's Obituary
Sandra Jeanette McClendon Newberry, a lifelong resident of Alexander City, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, at the age of 85.
For over 63 years, she made Alexander City her home, where she built a life filled with love, faith, and family. She was the devoted wife of a beloved coach, a proud and loving mother, and a sweet, present grandmother who cherished every moment with her family.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life-sunny days at the beach, tending to her garden, cooking meals that brought everyone together, and celebrating the holidays surrounded by those she loved. Her favorite blessings were time spent with family and friends, especially during beach trips and Christmas mornings, where her warmth and laughter lit up every room.
She was a kind soul, a Christian woman whose faith was evident in the way she lived-with grace, generosity, and compassion. She was a great listener, a supportive friend, and someone who treated everyone with respect and kindness. Her gentle spirit and loving nature left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Tilford of Marietta, GA; sons, Kent Newberry of Auburn and Keene Newberry (Judy) of Marietta, GA; grandchildren, Kelsey Bizzell and Metz Bizzell both of Marietta, GA and countless friends and extended family who will forever hold her memory close.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde McClendon, Sr. and Kate Williams McClendon; husband, John Newberry; sister, Nell Smith; and brother, Clyde McClendon, Jr.
Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A Funeral Service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 2:00 pm (CT) at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Flowers will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm (CT) at Radney Funeral Home.
Radney Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Sandra Jeanette McClendon Newberry.
