Mr. Samuel Patrick Meadows' Obituary
Mr. Samuel Patrick Meadows
1944 - 2024
Mr. Samuel Patrick Meadows, known affectionately as Sammy to his friends and Poppy to his family, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at his residence in Alexander City, Alabama. Born in the same city on July 6, 1944, to the late Daniel Herman Meadows and Farrell White Meadows, Sammy's life was a testament to the values of hard work, devotion to family, and the joy of life’s simple pleasures.
Sammy dedicated many years of service to the City of Jacksonville, Alabama, where he retired from his role as the Landfill Supervisor. His work ethic and commitment to his job were matched only by his dedication to the people he worked with and the community he served.
Outside of work, Sammy was a man of simple tastes and great passions. He was an avid outdoorsman who found solace and joy in the beauty of nature. Whether he was hunting in the crisp autumn woods or fishing on a serene lake or pond, Sammy was happiest when he was immersed in the outdoor activities he loved. His love for the Alabama Crimson Tide was equally well-known; he rarely missed a game and took great pleasure in cheering on his favorite team.
Sammy's legacy is carried on by his adoring family, who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his daughter, Misty Jackson and her husband Ronnie; his son, Lance Meadows; grandchildren Erica Meigs and her husband Lance, Amanda Hardy and her husband Jeffrey, and Allison DeArman and her husband Kaleb; great-grandchildren Hunter Meigs, Mason Hardy, Riggs Hardy, Knox Hardy, and Troy DeArman; and his sister, Sharon Marsh and her husband Frank.
Sammy's life was a reflection of the love he had for his family, the pride he took in his work, and the pleasure he found in life’s simple moments. He was a pillar of strength, a source of wisdom, and a beacon of joy for all who knew him. His stories, laughter, and the lessons he imparted will resonate with his family and friends for generations to come.
Samuel Patrick Meadows lived a full life, marked by the meaningful connections he made and the positive impact he had on those around him. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we celebrate the enduring legacy he leaves behind. His was a life well-lived, and he will be deeply missed.
