Mr. Samuel Hamilton Bradshaw III's Obituary
The Memorial Service for Mr. Samuel Hamilton Bradshaw III, 87, of Alexander City, will be Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Highway 280. Rev. Chip Vann will officiate.
Sam passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at his residence. He was born on March 26, 1935 in Alexander City, Alabama to Samuel Hamilton Bradshaw Jr. and Katherine Belle Small Bradshaw. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church. Sam was a generous man who was very active in the community with the Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, RSVP, teaching extracurriculars at the local elementary schools, The Boys and Girls Club, LMRA and Kiwanis Club. He was a master gardener, enjoyed golfing, reading at the local library and traveling. He spent countless hours visiting with the gentleman of the Coffee Club at Carlisle’s Drug Store.
He was passionate about spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle Spencer Bradshaw; children, Ginny Archer (Lewis), Elizabeth Avery (David), Hank Spencer (Ruth), Jimbo Spencer, Sam Bradshaw, Rich Bradshaw (Amanda); grandchildren, Hamilton Bradshaw (Melissa), Richie Bradshaw, Kristen Archer, Adam Archer, Chambers Avery, Spencer Avery, Elizabeth Ann Avery, Cardwell Spencer, Beatrice Spencer, Niki Reardon; great-grandchildren, Hamilton Bradshaw, John, Riley and Braelin Reardon.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Richardson Bradshaw, parents and brother, Jimmy Bradshaw.
The family would like to express a heartfelt “Thank You” to the wonderful caretakers and the care they provided Sam.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church, 3266 US 280, Alexander City, AL, 35010 or The Salvation Army, 6800 US 280, Alexander City, AL, 35010 or to Meals on Wheels, 3316 Highway 280, Alexander City, AL, 35010.
