Mrs. Roberson passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at her residence. She was born on August 12, 1932 to Joseph Green Atkisson and Mary Elsie Dowdy Atkisson. She was a devoted follower of Christ since childhood and a prayer warrior. Ruthie believed that if she woke up in the middle of the night with someone on her mind, that God had awakened her to pray for that person. She also believed if she woke up with no one specific on her mind, that God had awakened her to pray for everyone, and she did so faithfully for many years. Ruthie and her husband lived a life of sacrifice for their family. Her door was always open for anyone in need. She was a faithful member of Wayside Bapitst Church.
Ruthie had an incredible work ethic that she instilled in all of her children. She was part of the founding crew at Roses here in Alexander City. She spent 17 years as bookkeeper at A&P Grocery Store. She also spent over 20 years working at Williamson Oil. Ruthie was loved, respected, and admired by all who knew her. She was an excellent cook, even being recognized by the local paper for her skill in the kitchen.
She is survived by her children, Lillie Cherie Cavanaugh of Alexander City, Tommie Ruth Hines (Fred Weddeke) of Alexander City, Gwendolyn Joyce House (Larry) of Picayune, MS, Thomas Keith Roberson (Deborah) of Birmingham, and Emelie Jannette Chelluk of Alexander City; grandchildren, Jimi Washburn (Terra), David Washburn (Susan), Brian Livingston, Keith Allison, Dennis Hines, Gary Hines (Lauren), Alison Christofides (Shane), Chris Stoffregen (Kristen), Danielle Dickinson (Chip), Ruthie Glazier (Brian), Stephanie Chelluk (Chris), and Chuck Chelluk; twenty-one great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas L Roberson; daughter, Mary Annette Alison; and her seven siblings.
