Mrs. Ruth B. Luker's Obituary
Funeral service for Mrs. Ruth B. Luker, 81, of Goodwater, will be Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Rock Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Roger Griffith and Rev. Aubrey Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 17, 2010 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home. \r\n\r\nMrs. Luker passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Russell Medical Center. She was born on August 12, 1928 in Clay County, Alabama to William E. Brown and Minnie E. Cummings Brown. She was an active member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. She worked as a seamstress for Russell Corp. for many years where she later retired. Mrs. Luker loved Christmas and made each one magical for her family all her life. She loved her church and her community as well as her kids, grandkids, and great granddaughter, Payton. She enjoyed working in her yard. She always wanted to feed her visitors. \r\n\r\nShe is survived by her daughter, Linda L. Kelley (Richard) and Susan L. Sumners, all of Goodwater; son, Danny L. Luker (Karen) of Alexander City; grandchildren, Jason and his wife Tonya, Dana and Dawn; great-granddaughter, Payton and many nieces and nephews. \r\n\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Lamar Luker; and eleven brothers and sisters. \r\n\r\nThe family will accept flowers or contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30329-4251.
