Ruby Leola Wilson was a wonderful, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. Ruby passed away peacefully in her residence on May 5th, 2023, surrounded by all her children. She was 85 years old.
Ruby was born in Pell City but spent most of her life in Alexander City, Alabama. Ruby was a dedicated employee and took extreme pride in telling everyone that she retired after 28 years from the first job she ever applied for at Russell Corporation. After retiring, she worked the breakfast shift making the best homemade biscuits at Pete's fast-food restaurant and Cherokee Quick Stop. She was instrumental in helping to establish Victory Baptist Church in Alexander City, Alabama, where she devoted most of her Christian life.
Besides her loving devotion to her family for more than seventy years, Ruby enjoyed the simple things life offered her. She loved swinging on her porch, caring for her yard, and sewing quilts. Her hands were rarely still. Being a farm girl at heart, gardening was also her passion. She fed her family many meals at the mercy of her own labor. Ruby enjoyed traveling, going on new adventures, and seeing new places. She loved to be with her family and was always up for telling us all a good story, any shopping trip, a fun game of solitaire, and a hot cup of coffee. Her love was the strongest, and her arms were always extended for a tight hug.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her eight children: Billy Wayne Wilson (Barbara); David Reverne Wilson (Angie); Tommy Glenn Wilson (Patricia); Frankie Lee Wilson (Cathy); Letty Pauline Colley (Danny); Charyl Regean Jordan (John Graham); Stanley Jerome Wilson (Dale); Sammy Joe Wilson (Jennifer).
She was a loving grandmother to Alisa Foley (Michael); Michelle Alldredge (Kevin); Gerrad Wilson (Kimberly); David Wilson; Bryan Wilson; Jason Wilson (Laurie); Jeremy Wilson (Kelly); Kaci Brady (Tim); Stephanie Bell (Kevin); Zach Wilson; Sonny Wilson (Tara); Sabrina Collier (Wesley); Crystal Williams (Wesley); Angela Reese (Ty); Jason Kelley; John Kelley; Eric Gregg; Stormy Hubbard (Wayne); Chad Wilson; April Calvin, (Terrance); Kyle Wilson; Taylor Wilson (Amber); Tyler Wilson (Kerra); Nicholas Askew (Angel); Matthew Wilson (Desiree); Regina Milner (Zae); and a host of 45 great-grandchildren who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her mother Edna Pauline Williamson; her brother, Richard Wayne Williamson; grandparents, Ruby L. Pilkington and A.D. (Ross) Pilkington; Daughter-in-Law, LaDane Wilson; Granddaughter, Lisa Browning Wilson.
