Ruby Lee Denney's Obituary
Funeral Service for Mrs. Ruby Lee Denney, 81, of Ashland, will be Friday, January 3, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Jason Watkins and Mr. Bobby Mathis will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hackneyville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Denney passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024 at Clay County Nursing Home. She was born on July 15, 1943 in Alexander City, to George Preston Fomby and Cora Lee Waller Fomby. A faithful pastor's wife, she fulfilled her role with grace, supporting her husband's mission for many years. Her career spanned over four decades in accounting at Clay County Hospital, where her meticulous and loving nature was greatly valued.
Ruby's heart found joy and purpose in nurturing souls, whether through teaching Sunday School or her natural ability to uplift others with a song or a story. Her dedication to helping and caring for those around her remained steadfast throughout her life.
She embraced her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother with the entirety of her loving heart. Ruby's kind and gentle spirit made her a cherished friend to many.
Her departure leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew her. Mrs. Ruby Denney's memory will be forever treasured and her life's example continually celebrated.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. John Harold Denney of Ashland; daughter, Julia Denney (David) Mattox of Lineville; grandchildren, Brandon (Heather) Mattox and Jennifer (Tim Salster) McCollough; great-grandchildren, Jalen Clarke, Karson Mattox, Karlee Mattox, Jackson McCollough, and Luke McCollough; great-great-grandchild, Ralynn Miles; sister, Angela (Randall) Lucas of Alexander City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Robin Michelle Denney; brothers, Lamar Fomby and Olen Caspar Fomby.
