Mr. Roy Mitchell Jones' Obituary
Graveside service for Mr. Roy Mitchell Jones, 88, of Alexander City, will be Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Hillview Memorial Park with Veteran’s Honors provided by the Alexander City Veteran’s Honor Guard. Rev. Jason Gravette will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 20, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Jones passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Russell Medical Center. He was born on February 13, 1926 in Daviston, Alabama to Grover Randolph Jones and Ethel Lamberth Jones. He worked as a finishing technician for Avondale Mills and retired after 40 years, was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, especially bird hunting, fishing, and all sports. He was a fan of the Atlanta Braves and NASCAR. Mr. Jones loved life and enjoyed the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He received great joy out of helping friends and neighbors. He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army in World War II.
He is survived by his sons, Charles W. Jones (Janice) and David G. Jones (Patti), both of Alexander City; and 6 Grandchildren and 11 Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella M. Harry Jones; his parents: sister, Lois Forbus; and brother, Fred P. Jones.
