Ronald Wayne Williams Sr., a loving, kind, and funny man, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at his residence. His life was marked by devotion to his family, faith, work, and community, and he will be remembered with deep affection by all who knew him.
Mr. Williams was born on August 29, 1942, in Alexander City, Alabama, to John Robert Williams and Jewell Iona Dye Williams. He attended Benjamin Russell High School and carried the values of hard work, perseverance, and humility throughout his life. He was a Christian and an active member of West End Baptist Church, where his faith was an important part of who he was and how he lived each day.
Ronald dedicated 42 years of service to Russell Corporation before retiring, and he was respected for his strong work ethic and dependable nature. Even after retirement, he continued to stay active by working part-time for several local stores, where he enjoyed staying connected with people and remaining involved in the community. He also served in the United States National Guard for 21 years, a commitment that reflected his sense of duty, discipline, and patriotism.
Those who knew Ronald will remember him as a hard-working man who found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. He loved working in his yard and took pride in keeping things neat and cared for. He enjoyed visiting with friends and never met a stranger, always greeting others with warmth and kindness. He loved attending church and found comfort and strength in his faith. He also enjoyed playing the piano, sharing his gift and bringing joy to those around him.
Above all else, Ronald cherished his family. His wife of 62 years, Earlene J. Williams, was a treasured part of his life, and he deeply loved his children, Ronald W. (April) Williams Jr. and April D. (Charlie) Smith. He took great pride in his grandchildren, Coty B. Williams, Brady K. Williams, Hunter L. White, Logon R. Williams, Garrett Wayne (Ana) Earle, Collin Parker (Allison) Earle, Amanda K. (Richard) Morrow, and Marcus John Smith, and he found great happiness in his great-grandchildren, Kashton Blake Williams, Atticus R. Earle, Silas B. Earle, Hudson W. Earle, Charlee M. Smith, Reese W. Brooks, Chloee R. Brooks, Emerson Brooks, Jon C. Smith, Rylee A. Smith, and Max Morrow. His grand and great-grandchildren were the joy of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Robert Williams and Jewell Iona Dye Williams; his grandson, Ronald Franklin Williams; his great-granddaughter, Addison M. Williams; and his brothers, Donald O’Neil Williams and James Robert “Rusty” Williams. Though their loss was felt deeply, Ronald’s life remained a testimony to the love and strength of the family he helped build and sustain.
Ronald Wayne Williams Sr. leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, love, and laughter. His presence brought comfort and joy to those around him, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be remembered not only for the years he lived, but for the goodness he shared, the example he set, and the love he gave so freely
