Funeral Service for Mr. Ronald “Ronnie” James, 79, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 3:00 pm at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Jason Watkins and Kevin James Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. James passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2024 at Chapman Healthcare Center. He was born on February 12, 1945 in Alexander City, Alabama to Buren James and Janie Goss James. He was an active member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and founding member of the Ambassadors Quartet.
Ronald "Ronnie" James, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on February 12, 1945, Ronnie's life was marked by his loving nature, his thoughtful gestures, and his unwavering kindness that touched everyone he met.
Ronnie is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara James, of Alexander City, Alabama, a partnership, for 61 years, that was the cornerstone of a loving family. His legacy continues through his children: son Kevin (Rachelle) James of Alexander City, AL; son Hanley James, and daughter Ronnifer (Bart) Robertson. He was a proud grandfather to Logan (Allyssa Miller) Tucker, Kelsey Tucker, Kevin (Eden) James, Jr., Klark James, and Makaila Sims. Ronnie's life was built upon the solid foundation laid by his late parents, Buren and Janie James, who preceded him in death.
For over 50 years, Ronnie was a dedicated employee at Russell Corp., where his work ethic and commitment were as steadfast as his character. Beyond his professional achievements, he was deeply involved in his community and church, serving as a deacon and sharing his love for music. Ronnie's voice lifted in song was a well-known and beloved sound to those who knew him. His talents extended to his hands as well, as he was also an accomplished piano player, a skilled woodworker, and an avid farmer. Ronnie found joy in the simple pleasures of life, and his hobbies were a testament to his love for creating and nurturing.
Ronnie's spirit was most vibrant during the holidays, with Thanksgiving and Christmas being times of the year he cherished wholeheartedly.
