Roger's life was further enriched by a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Wallace Green; his mother, Margaret Louise Green; his brother, Jimmy Green; and his sisters, Robbie Marable, and Ruby Thompson.
Rev. Green dedicated his life to his ministry, shepherding the congregation at God's House Church in Hackneyville with unwavering commitment and love. His work extended beyond the pulpit as he shared his talents through his self-employed auto body paint and repair business. Roger's hands were skilled, and his work was a testament to his attention to detail and his desire to serve others.
Roger's interests painted the picture of a life lived with vigor and joy. He loved Jesus with all his heart and extended that love to his church family at God's House and to his own family and friends. A champion dirt track race driver, Roger's competitive spirit was matched only by his sportsmanship and camaraderie. He showcased his athletic prowess on the basketball court and the softball field, playing on the Russell Corp. traveling basketball team and taking pride as a proud member of the Hackneyville Rockets basketball team. Off the court, he was an avid fan of Duke basketball and could often be found enjoying episodes of Gunsmoke, immersed in the tales of the Wild West.
Roger Green was the epitome of a loving soul, a wise guide, and a funny companion who could light up a room with his humor. His warm heart and deep wisdom touched countless lives, leaving behind memories that will continue to inspire and comfort those he loved.
As we bid farewell to Rev. Roger Green, we celebrate a life that exemplified love in action, wisdom in words, and joy in every endeavor. He will be dearly missed, but his legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the family he adored. Roger's journey on earth has ended, but his spirit remains a guiding light for all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to God’s House Church, Bill Phillips, Jackie Mobley, Southern Care Hospice, especially April Roberts, R.N. as well as Advanced Cardiovascular and Pricare for the excellent care given to their loved one.
