Funeral Service for Mr. Robert Lewis Mooney, 64, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Faron Golden will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Robert Lewis Mooney, a dedicated family man, and a hardworking machinist has passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and selflessness. A simple man, Robert's life was a testament to the beauty of hard work and devotion to one's family.
Born to the late Roy Levell and Lily Christine Mooney, Robert was a loving brother to Debbie K. Harris (James), Roy Oneal Mooney, and half-brother Mitch Mooney. He was also a caring uncle to Kathy Bryant (Josh), Patrick Mooney, Abigail Sims, and Dailey Sims. Robert was fortunate to share his life with his beloved wife, Connie Sims Mooney of Alexander City, AL. His love for his family extended to his son, Nathan Lewis Mooney (Courtney), and his grandchildren, Issabell Grace Mooney and Henry Reid Mooney. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Chris Sims (Kaci), and his in-laws, Gerald and June Parker, and Charles and Jean Sims. Robert was preceded in death by his son, Robert Ashley Mooney.
Robert's dedication to his work was evident in his 40-year service at Brown Machine. He loved his job as a machinist, a passion ignited and nurtured by his mentor, Billy Brown. Even after retirement, Robert couldn't stay away from the work he loved, choosing to work with his son, Nathan. His work ethic and dedication were a testament to his character, making him a role model for many.
In addition to his work, Robert proudly served in the United States Army for nine years. His service to his country was a source of great pride, reflecting his selfless nature and commitment to duty.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Robert is remembered for his love for his family. He was a man who valued the simple pleasures of life, cherishing the time spent with his loved ones. His wisdom and handy skills were a source of comfort and pride to his family. Whether it was a broken toaster or a complicated life decision, Robert was always there with a solution or an advice, earning him the title of a wise man in his family.
Robert leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, his life a testament to the values he held dear. He will be remembered as a loving husband, a caring father, a doting grandfather, a supportive brother, and a loyal friend.
