Mr. Richard Donald Garrett Sr.'s Obituary
Funeral Service for Mr. Richard Donald Garrett, Sr., 64, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Jimmy Sims will officiate. Burial will follow in the Alexander City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Garrett passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Russell Medical. He was born on December 18, 1956 in Lee County, Alabama to Benjamin Wallace Garrett, Sr. and Annette Hay Clanton. Don was a family man and he loved his family very much. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and boat riding. He was a truck driver for 45+ years and was an avid Auburn fan. Don was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. There was never a dull moment when Don was around. He loved picking on and aggravating his family and friends.
Don is survived by his wife, Rebecca Welcher Garrett of Alexander City; his children, Jerry Michael Welcher (Nora) of Alexander City, Christy Smith (Brandon) of Alexander City, Richard Donald Garrett, Jr. (Kayla) of Alexander City, Alicia Tielking (Ronald) of Auburn and Christopher Garrett (Tina) of Auburn; eighteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; mother, Annette Clanton of Valley; brother, Benjamin Garrett (Sherlene) of Dadeville; and four sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his father; granddaughter, Haley Marie Garrett; and step-father, Claude Clanton, Jr.
